1880s hair comb featuring a lace pattern rendered in jet. Deaccessioned from the collection of the Valentine Museum, Richmond, Virginia. The fan-shaped crown is an open lacework construction of black French Jet glass with faceted round cabochons, marquise cuts, rose-cut teardrops, and tiny beaded strands that trace scrolling arabesques, floral sprays, and symmetrical foliate motifs across the full width of the piece.
